The Eridge Park Estate

For those who haven't visited yet, Forgewood is an ancient woodland situated in the High Weald on the Eridge Park Estate.
The Estate itself was created by William the Conqueror when he gave the land to his brother Odo. The Nevill family inherited the estate in 1448. It is the current Marquess of Abergavenny who in partnership with us, is offering camping on the Estate.

ForgeWood

Camping at ForgeWood is about getting back to nature and enjoying camping the old way. There are no Caravans or electrical hookups, just the basics needed to make it a real break from the technocrazy world we live in. You make your own space, light your own fire, build your own shelters and give your kids the chance to run free in the woods.

We  have pitches in the woods or on the field. There is plenty of space and its up to you how far you want to go. If you walk a little further you get to find your own special space.

Latest from John & Nick

We are delighted that after a  wait of what seems like years the new booking system is finally here.  We can get rid of the cheques and move in to the teenies with PayPal and credit cards. Please check availability because sadly a lot of weekends are now sold out.

We have now opened InWood for bookings which is a fantastic site and has availability for most weekends.

I hope we can do better than last year and we are trying. All reviews have been read and within the constraints of our planning consent we will do what we can.

Availability and Booking

Sadly we are selling out fast and only a couple of weekends in June and July are still available. There is plenty of availability throughout May and August. If you want to book as a large group with a reserved space I am asking for a 25% deposit and the balance to be paid at least 28 days before arrival. If you do not require a large space, the deposit is 50% on booking and the remainder on arrival.

Art Courses

For the artistically inclined we are also planning to offer 2 & 3 day courses during the week in painting and drawing. Book soon!

Camp Fires
The majority of our neighbours are extremely supportive of the campsite and we strive to make it work for everyone. We have to be explicit that campfires are at the managements discretion so if wind conditions are likely to cause a problem we can impose a curfew. Based on last season there were no more than 5 days when this occurred, and on no occasion did it occur on 2 days consecutively so I would hope that everyone will have a fire for the majority of their stay. For the time being the daytime curfew will remain in place.
Bushcraft
The Bushcraft guys are back with more going on in the week during the holidays. There will be  sessions in Fire Making, Spoon Carving, Foraging and Camp Fire cooking every Saturday and through the holidays from June. You can book directly with them  at info@greencraft.me.uk if you have special requirements.

Watch this space and we hope to see soon
Thanks

John & Nick
